A guest lecture was organized for our R&D team on 25th of June 2010. Our Guests, Dr Sivasubramanian & Dr V V Subramanian from the Vivekananda Institute of Algal Technology, Chennai, are eminent personalities in the field of science.

The talk focused on "Effluent Treatment through Phycoremediation.” Various initiatives have been taken by the Vivekanada Institute of Algal Technology [VIAT] for effluent treatment employing microalgae, a process popularly called phycoremediation. Phycoremediation may broadly be defined as the use of macro- or micro-algae for removal or bio-transformation of pollutants including nutrients from waste water, and carbon dioxide from polluted air, which is a natural and eco-friendly way of treating effluents for safe disposal.
